Vacuum intraoperative specimen mammography: A novel technique.

Objective: Intraoperative specimen mammography (ISM) is a diffuse technique that allows surgeons to check specimens immediately after lumpectomy. Although the specimen is slightly compressed, the radiological image can be distorted by tissue overlap, and this may affect the evaluation of tumour borders, resulting in extension of the lumpectomy. As ISM may be less precise due to inadequate compression, a vacuum effect was applied to the specimen to increase the precision of margin detection.

We present a case report of a 52-year-old man who was hospitalized for right leg pain due to a relevant hemorrhagic effusion. He was on dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT): acetylsalicylic acid and ticagrelor, a reversible P2Y12 receptor antagonist. Signs, symptoms, and laboratory blood tests led to the diagnosis of acquired hemophilia A (AHA).

Effectiveness of an educational intervention on the management of type 2 diabetic patients hospitalized in Internal Medicine: results from the FADOI-DIAMOND study.

Appropriate management of hyperglycemia is crucial for patients with type 2 diabetes. Aim of the FADOI-DIAMOND study was to evaluate real-world management of type 2 diabetic patients hospitalized in Internal Medicine wards (IMW) and the effects of a standardized educational intervention for IMW staff.
