Introduction: The provision of treatment for epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutated nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients has increased in Korea. However, multicenter studies on the clinicopathologic dataset and treatment outcomes, using a large-scale dataset, have not been conducted. In this review, we discuss the advantages and limitations of animal models of disc diseases, focusing on lumbar spinal stenosis, disc herniation, and degeneration, as well as future research directions. The advantages of animal models are that they enable controlled experiments, long-term monitoring to study the natural history of the disease, and the testing of potential treatments.

This case report describes a 51-year-old male presenting with progressive bilateral hearing impairment and significant deterioration in speech discrimination over several years. Examination revealed normal tympanic membranes and no neurological deficits, while pure tone audiometry indicated mild to moderate sensorineural hearing loss.

To study the intrinsic factors that are associated with cancer radioresistance, we established 4 radioresistant prostate (22Rv1 and DU145) and head and neck cancer (FaDu and HK1) models by irradiating their wild-type parentals to 90 Gy, mimicking the fractionated radiotherapy schema that is often using in the clinic, and performed whole exome and transcriptome sequencing of the radioresistant and wild-type models. Comparative genomic analyses detected the enrichment of mismatch repair mutational signatures (SBS6, 14, 15, 20) across all the cell lines and several non-synonymous single nucleotide variants involved in pro-survival pathways.
