Quantification of Ground Reaction Forces During the Follow Through in Trained Male Cricket Fast Bowlers: A Laboratory-Based Study.

Ground reaction forces (GRFs) are known to be high during front foot contact of fast bowling deliveries in cricket. There is a lack of published data on the GRFs during follow through foot contacts. The aim of this study was to quantify and compare peak GRFs and impulse of the delivery stride and the follow through of fast bowling deliveries.

Evaluating the effect of sports compression tights on balance, sprinting, jumping and change of direction tasks.

Compression garments are commonly used during athletic tasks. However, the effect of compression garments on balance, sprinting, jumping and change of direction performance requires further investigation. In the current study, 24 recreationally active participants (12 males, 12 females, age 27 ± 3 years) completed single-leg balance tasks, countermovement jumps, drop jumps, 10 m straight line sprints and change of direction tasks wearing either compression tights (COMP) or regular exercise tights (CON).

The Contribution of Lower-Body Kinematics to Pitching and Hitting Performance in Baseball: Utilizing the OpenBiomechanics Project.

As markerless motion capture systems become more affordable than ever, it is becoming far easier to collect and analyze kinematic data on baseballers. To ensure this data can be used impactfully, coaches and practitioners should possess a good understanding of specific technique characteristics that are associated with enhanced performance in pitchers and hitters. This study used the open-source data provided by Driveline Baseball's OpenBiomechanics Project to evaluate the contribution of lower-body kinematics to pitch velocity and bat speed.

Eating Disorder Risk and Common Mental Disorders in British Servicewomen: A Cross-Sectional Observational Study.

Purpose: Servicewomen are at increased risk of common mental disorders compared with servicemen and their female civilian counterparts. The prevalence of eating disorder risk and common mental disorders, and associated risk factors in British servicewomen are poorly understood.

Methods: All women younger than 45 yr in the UK Armed Forces were invited to complete a survey about demographics, exercise behaviors, eating behaviors, and common mental disorders.

Background: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians living with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection have a significant burden of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The prevalence of comorbidities that increase the risk of HCC in this population is incompletely defined.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in remote tropical Queensland, Australia in January 2021.
