Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a major risk factor for ischemic stroke, and early AF diagnosis may reduce associated morbidity and mortality. A 10-variable predictive model (UNAFIED) was previously developed to estimate patients' 2-year AF risk. This study evaluated a clinical workflow incorporating UNAFIED for screening, education, and follow-up evaluation of patients visiting a cardiology clinic who may be at an elevated risk of developing AF within 2 years.

Objectives: We analysed the impact of chronic type B aortic dissection (cTBAD) and degenerative aneurysm (DA) on the short- and long-term outcomes of patients undergoing open descending thoracic aortic aneurysm and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm repair.
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of a prospectively maintained aortic database. From 1999 to 2023, 245 patients underwent open descending thoracic aortic aneurysm or thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm repair.
Soybean is a major legume crop cultivated globally due to the high quality and quantity of its seed protein and oil. However, drought stress is the most significant factor that decreases soybean yield, and more than 90% of US soybean acreage is dependent on rainfall. Water use efficiency (WUE) is positively correlated with the carbon isotopic ratio C/C (C13 ratio) and selecting soybean varieties for high C13 ratio may enhance WUE and help improve tolerance to drought.

Challenges in comprehensive molecular testing include complexities associated with the need to assess the presence of multiple variants, costs of running multiple sequential assays per sample, high assay quality control (QC) failure rates, clinical need for rapid turn-around time (TAT) to initiate therapy, and insufficient tissue samples. The ASPYRE-Lung NSCLC assay addresses gaps in multiplexed testing by simultaneously analyzing DNA and RNA, detecting 114 actionable genomic variants across 11 genes, consistent with current NSCLC treatment guidelines.

Replicative errors, inefficient repair, and proximity to sites of reactive oxygen species production make mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) susceptible to damage with time. We explore allotopic expression (re-engineering mitochondrial genes and expressing them from the nucleus) as an approach to rescue defects arising from mtDNA mutations. We used a mouse strain C57BL/6J(mtFVB) with a natural polymorphism (m.
