The role of C-reactive protein and ferritin in the diagnosis of HLH, adult-onset still's disease, and COVID-19 cytokine storm.

Cytokine storm syndromes such as hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD), and COVID-19 cytokine storm (CCS) are characterized by markedly elevated inflammatory cytokines. However clinical measurement of serum cytokines is not widely available. This study examined the clinical utility of C-reactive protein (CRP) and ferritin, two inexpensive and widely available inflammatory markers, for distinguishing HLH from AOSD and CCS.

Hospital pharmacists' perceived competence in providing care to oncology patients - (HoPP-CoP2).

Background: Previous research has shown community pharmacists do not have high perceived competence or confidence providing care to patients on oral anti-cancer medications. There is a paucity of evidence when it comes to hospital pharmacists providing care to oncology patients admitted to the hospital for a reason other than cancer.

Objective(s): To assess the perceived competence of hospital pharmacists not working in oncology in managing patients taking anticancer drugs.

The role of Alberta pharmacists working in opioid use disorder and their potential to prescribe buprenorphine-naloxone: A qualitative study.

Objective: Opioid toxicity continues to have significant morbidity and mortality in Alberta. Opioid agonist therapy is an effective treatment for opiate use disorder (OUD), with first-line treatment with buprenorphine-naloxone (BUP-NAL) being both highly effective and safe. Barriers to care limit access to treatment, and more access points for treatment are needed.

A framework for training graduate students and campus communities in inclusive teaching.

While graduate student teaching assistants (TAs) contribute significantly to university education, many graduate programs across diverse disciplines offer limited formal pedagogical training. In turn, many researchers informally develop teaching and mentoring skills as they advance to faculty positions or related careers. This can perpetuate a lag in the implementation of inclusive educational environments despite the clear benefits demonstrated by recent pedagogical research.

Unlocking Potential for Low-Carbon Hydrogen Production from U.S. Natural Gas Resources.

Hydrogen will potentially play a key role while transitioning to a net-zero economy. This study addresses resource, environmental, economic, policy, and societal issues related to low-carbon hydrogen production by steam methane reforming with carbon capture and storage in Wyoming and other natural-gas-rich states. For low-carbon hydrogen produced from natural gas and electricity supplies and which stores CO in saline reservoirs in Wyoming, the levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH) ranges from $1.
