: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder in women of fertile age. Some studies suggest that a ketogenic diet (KD) may have a role in treating PCOS. We aimed to demonstrate the long-term effectiveness of a KD in PCOS.

Non-invasive Temporal Interference Stimulation of the Hippocampus Suppresses Epileptic Biomarkers in Patients with Epilepsy: Biophysical Differences between Kilohertz and Amplitude Modulated Stimulation.

Medication-refractory focal epilepsy poses a significant challenge, with approximately 30% of patients ineligible for surgery due to the involvement of eloquent cortex in the epileptogenic network. For such patients with limited surgical options, electrical neuromodulation represents a promising alternative therapy. In this study, we investigate the potential of non-invasive temporal interference (TI) electrical stimulation to reduce epileptic biomarkers in patients with epilepsy by comparing intracerebral recordings obtained before, during, and after TI stimulation, and to those recorded during low and high kHz frequency (HF) sham stimulation.

The development of organic artificial synapses that exhibit biomimicry features also may enable a more seamless integration of neuroelectronic devices in the nervous system, allowing artificial neuromodulation to be perceived as natural behavior by neuronal cells. Nevertheless, the capability to interact with both electroactive and non-electroactive neurotransmitters remains a challenge since state-of-the-art devices mainly rely on the oxidation of electroactive species. Here, the study proposes an organic artificial synapse engineered to enable interaction with non-electroactive species present in the central nervous system.

Bone Quality Indices Correlate with Growth Hormone Secretory Capacity in Women Affected by Weight Excess: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Obesity can be associated with impaired growth hormone (GH) secretion, with possible negative repercussions on bone health. We aimed to investigate the relationships between GH secretory capacity, evaluated with GHRH + arginine stimulation test, and bone parameters, assessed with a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometer, in a population of adult female patients affected by overweight and obesity. : We assessed 276 women affected by overweight or obesity referred to the High-Specialization Center for the Care of Obesity, Umberto I Polyclinic, between 2014 and 2019 with signs or symptoms of growth hormone deficiency (GHD).

Placental Bioenergetics and Antioxidant Homeostasis in Maternal Obesity and Gestational Diabetes.
