Resveratrol (3,5,4'-trihydroxystilbene, RSV) is a natural stilbene synthetized as trans-isomer in plants exposed to oxidative stress. In order to understand the mechanism involved during photosensitized degradation of trans-resveratrol, steady-state and time-resolved experiments were performed and compared with quantum-chemical calculations using density functional theory (DFT). Pterin (Ptr), a well-known photosensitizer, under UV-A radiation induces the oxidation of several biomolecules mainly through electron-transfer mechanisms.

The laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is recognized as a safe alternative to endotracheal intubation for short-term airway maintenance. In this case report we present the case of a term neonate with upper airway obstruction which was managed with a deflated LMA for 7 consecutive days. Despite previous reports of extended LMA use in neonates without complications, this patient experienced significant pharyngeal mucosal injury and edema, leading to difficulty with subsequent intubation attempts.

Ivermectin (IVM), one of the most widely used antiparasitics in livestock, could enters into the aquatic environment because the treated animal metabolizes only a small percentage of what is administered and the rest is eliminated through the feces, largely as a parent drug, imposing a risk to aquatic organisms. The aims of this study were to (1) assess the effect of IVM spiked in cattle dung on the survival and emergence of Culex pipiens (Diptera: Culicidae), and to (2) evaluate the accumulation of this drug in the different developmental stages of this taxon. Larvae were exposed to two IVM concentrations (T1: 1000 ng g and T2: 500 ng g) for 9 days.

Based on its phylogenetic relationship to monitor lizards (Varanidae), Gila monsters (Heloderma spp.), and the earless monitor Lanthanotus borneesis, the Chinese crocodile lizard, Shinisaurus crocodilurus, has been assigned to the Toxicofera clade, which comprises venomous reptiles. However, no data about composition and biological activities of its oral secretion have been reported.
