White matter hyperintensity (WMH) is associated with cognitive impairment. In this study, 79 patients with WMH from hospital 1 were randomly divided into a training set (62 patients) and an internal validation set (17 patients). In addition, 29 WMH patients from hospital 2 were used as an external validation set.

Purpose: To demonstrate the effects of postoperative oropharyngeal rehabilitation on inflammatory mediators and antioxidant capacity in adults with obstructive sleep apnea.

Methods: This quasi-experimental study enrolled participants without blinding between January 2020 and December 2022. Patients with obstructive sleep apnea were divided into a conservative treatment group (n = 17), surgery group (n = 23), or surgery combined with oropharyngeal rehabilitation (surgery + rehabilitation) group (n = 19).

Whey powder (WP), a dairy by-product with high biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD), presents challenges due to its high production, low-value utilization, and environmental pollution. Based on the idea of turning waste into treasure, high-value use of WP was studied. Firstly, an engineered Bacillus subtilis co-expressing β-galactosidase (β-Gal) and L-arabinose isomerase (LAI) was constructed, which ultimately yielded 77.

Flower development is of great significance for plant reproductive growth, but the molecular mechanisms underlying flower development remain to be fully understood. In this study, a tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) Divergent C1 (DC1) domain protein SlCHP16 was identified as a negative regulator of flower development.

This study investigated non-covalent interactions between unmodified/modified (ball-milling, BMP; high pressure homogenization, HPHP; cold plasma, CPP) Cyperus esculentus protein (CEP) and proanthocyanidins (PA and PB2) to evaluate structure, functionalities and potential in emulsions. The PA and PB2 addition significantly increased the turbidity and ζ-potential of CEP samples, as confirmed by aggregations observed via atomic force microscopy, validating the formation of protein-proanthocyanidin complexes. Fluorescence quenching and isothermal titration calorimetry revealed that procyanidins caused CEP sample static quenching, with CEP-proanthocyanidins binding affinity order as CPP > HPHP>BMP > CEP.
