A Quality by Design Approach for Optimizing Solid Lipid Nanoparticles of Bedaquiline for Improved Product Performance.

Bedaquiline (BQ) solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs), which have previously been formulated for parenteral administration, have a risk of patient non-compliance in treating tuberculosis. This research presents a strategy to develop BQ SLNs for oral delivery to improve patient adherence, The upper and lower levels for the formulation excipients were generated from screening experiments. Using 4 input factors (BQ, lecithin, Tween 80, and PEG), a full factorial design from 3 × 2x2 × 2 experiments was randomly arranged to investigate 3 response variables: Particle size distribution (PSD), polydispersity index (PdI), and zeta potential (ZP).

Malaria presents a huge threat to pregnant women, their foetus, and children below five years. This study is aimed at assessing malaria prevalence, associated clinical symptoms, and urine abnormalities among pregnant women in Aba metropolis, Abia State, Nigeria. A cross-sectional study involving 450 pregnant women purposively selected from nine health care centres was conducted.

Background: Timely access to safe blood and blood components is still a challenge in Nigeria. This study aimed to determine blood donation practices, processing and utilization of blood components across government tertiary hospitals (THs) in Nigeria.

Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study done in Nigeria in June-July 2020.

Morphogenetic metasurfaces: unlocking the potential of turing patterns.

The reaction-diffusion principle imagined by Alan Turing in an attempt to explain the structuring of living organisms is leveraged in this work for the procedural synthesis of radiating metasurfaces. The adaptation of this morphogenesis technique ensures the growth of anisotropic cellular patterns automatically arranged to satisfy local electromagnetic constraints, facilitating the radiation of waves controlled in frequency, space, and polarization. Experimental validations of this method are presented, designing morphogenetic metasurfaces radiating far-field circularly polarized beams and generating a polarization-multiplexed hologram in the radiative near-field zone.
