Multimodal Pain Control in Abdominoplasty: A Systematic Review and Algorithm of Optimal Pain Management.

The procedure with the highest rate of opioid prescription in plastic surgery is abdominoplasty. Additionally, plastic surgery patients are at a particularly elevated risk of becoming opioid-dependent. The main objective of this study was to perform a systematic review and create an algorithm for a multimodal pain regimen specific to patients undergoing abdominoplasty.

Pharmaceutical Pollution of the English National Parks.

England's 10 national parks are renowned for their landscapes, wildlife, and recreational value. However, surface waters in the national parks may be vulnerable to pollution from human-use chemicals, such as active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), because of factors like ineffective wastewater treatment, seasonal tourism, a high proportion of elderly residents, and the presence of low-flow water bodies that limit dilution. The present study determined the extent of API contamination in the English national parks by monitoring 54 APIs in 37 rivers across all national parks over two seasons.

Use of tRNA gene barriers improves stability of transgene expression in CHO cells.

Instability of transgene expression is a major challenge for the biopharmaceutical industry, which can impact yields and regulatory approval. Some tRNA genes (tDNAs) can resist epigenetic silencing, the principal mechanism of expression instability, and protect adjacent genes against the spread of repressive heterochromatin. We have taken two naturally occurring clusters of human tDNAs and tested their ability to reduce epigenetic silencing of transgenes integrated into the genome of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells.

The Role of Blood Pressure Control in Prevention of Hematoma After Blepharoplasty.

Introduction: Hematoma formation after blepharoplasty is serious and potentially vision-threatening, with hypertension being the primary risk factor. The aim of this paper is to assess perioperative blood pressure trends and rates of complication in patients undergoing a strict blood pressure protocol designed to keep perioperative systolic blood pressure below 120 mmHg.

Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed of 32 patients undergoing face lift with conomitant blepharoplasty from January 2015 to July 2018.
