Pediatric cervical spine injuries have rarely been reported in the setting of child abuse. We report two cases of unsuspected lower cervical spine fracture-dislocation in twin infant girls who had no physical examination findings to suggest cervical spine injury. Classic radiographic findings of child abuse were noted at multiple other sites in the axial and appendicular skeleton.

Objectives: To determine how frequently seating devices are available in homes with small infants and how often they are used for infants who are too young to sit erect and unsupported.

Design: Observational study using a questionnaire administered to a cohort of parents of well infants younger than 5 months.

Setting: Well-Baby Clinic, Department of Pediatrics, Tripler Army Medical Center, a tertiary care center serving the population of military dependents on the island of Oahu, Hawaii.

In this review we will attempt to summarize the use of scrotal sonography in infants and children. The material is gathered from the literature and from our own experience of 197 sonograms performed on 175 pediatric patients. Included will be information on testicular development and descent, normal sonographic anatomy, classification of scrotal disease, and the final diagnoses of the sonograms.
