Article Synopsis
  • Identifying biomarkers like retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) may enable early detection of muscle loss and aid in developing new therapies, particularly for postmenopausal women.
  • The study followed postmenopausal women for 12 months to assess the relationship between initial RBP4 levels and changes in appendicular lean mass (ALM), where higher baseline RBP4 was correlated with greater muscle loss.
  • Results indicated that women with higher RBP4 levels experienced a more significant reduction in muscle mass, suggesting that RBP4 could serve as a useful biomarker for monitoring muscle health in this demographic.

The therapeutic landscape of metastatic prostate cancer has undergone a profound revolution in recent years. In addition to the introduction of novel molecules in the clinics, the field has witnessed a tremendous development of functional imaging modalities adding new biological insights which can ultimately inform tailored treatment strategies, including local therapies. The evolution and rise of Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) have been particularly notable in patients with oligometastatic disease, where it has been demonstrated to be a safe and effective treatment strategy yielding favorable results in terms of disease control and improved oncological outcomes.

Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide, primarily driven by atherosclerosis, a chronic inflammatory condition contributing significantly to fatalities. Various biological determinants affecting cardiovascular health across different age and sex groups have been identified. In this context, recent attention has focused on the potential therapeutic and preventive role of increasing circulating levels of heat shock protein 27 (plasma HSP27) in combating atherosclerosis.

This study aims to investigate the potential association between serum levels of cytokines, HSP60, HSP70 and IR (HOMA-IR) in postmenopausal women. We conducted a cross-sectional study involving 381 postmenopausal women, including 94 with a breast cancer diagnosis and 278 without. We analyzed anthropometric and laboratory measurements.

Background: Moderate hypofractionated radiotherapy is a treatment option for the cure of localized prostate cancer (PCa) patients based on the results of randomized prospective trials, but there is a clinical concern about the relatively short length of follow-up, and real-world results on outcome and toxicity based on cutting-edge techniques are lacking. The objective of this study is to present the long-term results of a large multicentric series.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 1325 PCa patients treated with daily volumetric image-guided hypofractionated radiotherapy between 2007 and 2020 in 16 Centers.
