ESBL-producing in Enterobacteriaceae, is the main resistance mechanism to extended spectrum cephalosporin and monobactams. Seventy isolates collected of hospitals in four cities of the Colombian Caribean, were characterized to ESBL production and metalo-beta-lactamases by microbiological test.
