HiCrayon reveals distinct layers of multi-state 3D chromatin organization.

Chromatin contact maps are often shown as 2D heatmaps and visually compared to 1D genomic data by simple juxtaposition. While common, this strategy is imprecise, placing the onus on the reader to align features with each other. To remedy this, we developed HiCrayon, an interactive tool that facilitates the integration of 3D chromatin organization maps and 1D datasets.

Ethical Considerations in Substance Use Treatment for Youth: Assessing Clinical Practices and Policy Frameworks for Potential Harm.

The current conceptual review highlights considerations surrounding the potential for non-beneficence and undue coercion within the practices of psychologists and other clinicians providing substance use treatment for youth. The potential for nonbeneficence and undue coercion is assessed at three key stages of treatment for youth with substance use disorders (SUDs): the informed consent process, maintaining confidentiality, and treatment planning. We explore these concerns as they relate to the ethical principles of psychologists as outlined by the American Psychological Association (American Psychological Association [APA], 2017), as well as pertinent state and national legislative guidelines.

Improving Student Outcomes with an Adaptable Molecular Cloning Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experience.

The continuous advancement of molecular biology techniques requires that molecular biology curricula are regularly refined to effectively prepare students to enter the workforce with modern competencies. In particular, the emergence of Gibson Assembly, a highly customizable and adaptive molecular cloning technique, has advanced the landscape of molecular cloning in numerous research environments. Thus, we created a Gibson Assembly cloning module for deployment in a molecular biology laboratory course at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and evaluated student learning outcomes from the module.

Defining Clinical Characteristics of Individuals With and Without Post-Bariatric Hypoglycemia After Gastric Bypass.

Context: Post-bariatric hypoglycemia (PBH) is a complication of bariatric surgery including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). It remains unclear why only some individuals develop PBH.

Objective: To identify clinical characteristics distinguishing post-RYGB individuals with PBH, versus without symptomatic hypoglycemia (RYGB non-hypo).
