Aim: Career satisfaction level, degree of mental distress associated with certain work-related factors, and demographics were examined for the first time in obstetricians and gynecologists in Japan.

Material And Methods: Associations between the score on Kessler 6 screening scale, or the job satisfaction level, and the scores on the job content questionnaire, Social Support Questionnaire (SSQ), working conditions and demographics were examined in 1301 members of the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Adnexal torsion of mature cystic teratoma with hemorrhagic infarction: helpful findings on successive plain abdominal radiographs.

Adnexal torsion is a relatively rare cause of lower abdominal pain in women, but in many cases it leads to a serious condition. We present a case of adnexal torsion of a mature cystic teratoma in which hemorrhagic infarction was reflected by progressive enlargement and wall thickening on successive plain abdominal radiographs. There has been no other report describing such changes of adnexal torsion on plain abdominal radiographs.

A case of bullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma (BCIE) caused by a mutation in the 1A helix initiation motif of keratin 1.

Bullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma (BCIE) is an autosomally dominant inherited disorder characterized by erythematous, erosive, and bullous skin lesions over the entire body at birth and abnormal hyperkeratosis on the palmoplantar sufaces as the patient grows older. BCIE is caused by a mutation in the keratin 1 (K1) and/or keratin 10 (K10) genes, and most pathogenic mutations are found within the helix initiation and termination motifs of the central helical rod domain (K1 and K10) or the upstream H1 homology domain (K10). In addition to inherited cases, sporadic cases due to a new mutation account for approximately half the total cases of BCIE.

Human umbilical cord blood-derived cells differentiate into hepatocyte-like cells in the Fas-mediated liver injury model.

Human umbilical cord blood (HUCB) contains stem/progenitor cells, which can differentiate into a variety of cell types. In this study, we investigated whether HUCB cells differentiate into hepatocytes in vitro and in vivo. We also examined whether CD34 could be the selection marker of stem cells for hepatocytes.

[Intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy for advanced endometrial cancer before surgical treatment].

Nine cases of advanced uterine body cancer (stage III: 8, stage IVa: 1) were treated by intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy before curative operation. This treatment produced primary tumors smaller than half sizes in eight cases. Necrotic changes were found in over two-thirds of the lesions in six cases.
