The purpose of this analysis is to use transmission rates to assess past prevention efforts and explore trends of the epidemic in subpopulations within Thailand.
Methods: Asian Epidemic Model HIV incidence and prevalence were used to calculate transmission rates over time nationally and among high-risk populations.
To describe the prevalence of overweight and obesity and examine their relationship with socio-demographic factors in Thai adults. Using data from a cross-sectional survey, the National Health Examination Survey II (NHESII), the authors examined the prevalence of overweight (BMI > or = 25 kg/m2) and obesity (BMI > or = 30 kg/m2) in 3,220 Thai adults aged 20-59 yr. Univariate analyses and Logistic regression models were used to examine the association of overweight and obesity with socio-demographic and behavioral risk factors.

In order to determine which diseases and health problems were most strongly associated with long-term disability among the Thai elderly and to determine their public health priority, a national cross-sectional multistage random sampling survey was conducted in 1997. Four thousand and forty-eight Thai older persons aged 60 years and over were recruited and interviewed by trained interviewers. Overall, 769 (19%) people reported having a long-term disability.
