Meloxicam in the management of post-operative pain: Narrative review.

Oral formulations of meloxicam, a preferential cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor, have long been used to treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, as well as various pain syndromes of skeletomuscular origin (e.g., low back pain).

Spinal cord stimulation for recurrent tethered cord syndrome in a pediatric patient: case report.

The authors present a patient with a lipomyelomeningocele and worsening back pain due to recurrent tethered cord syndrome. Because of the increased risk and unlikely improvement in symptoms with repeated surgical untethering, she was offered an alternative treatment with a trial of dorsal spinal cord stimulation. She had an excellent response to the percutaneous trial, and a permanent implant was placed, with good initial results.

Impact of S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase 1 on pulmonary vascular remodeling.

Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a life-threatening disease characterized by vascular remodeling and increased pulmonary vascular resistance. Chronic alveolar hypoxia in animals is often used to decipher pathways being regulated in PH. Here, we aimed to investigate whether chronic hypoxia-induced PH in mice can be reversed by reoxygenation and whether possible regression can be used to identify pathways activated during the reversal and development of PH by genome-wide screening.

Revisiting old drugs as novel agents for retinoblastoma: in vitro and in vivo antitumor activity of cardenolides.

Purpose: Intra-arterial delivery of chemotherapeutic agents offers a new and exciting opportunity for the treatment of advanced intraocular retinoblastoma. It allows local delivery of relatively high doses of chemotherapy agents while bypassing general blood circulation. For this reason, this study was undertaken to revisit some of the FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of retinoblastoma.
