Background: As the most common chronic disease in childhood, asthma displays a major public health problem worldwide with the incidence of those affected rising. As there is currently no cure for allergic asthma, it is mandatory to get a better understanding of the underlying molecular mechanism.
Main Body: By producing IgE antibodies upon allergen contact, B cells play a pivotal role in allergic asthma.
Methylating substances alter DNA by forming N3-methylthymidine (N3mT), a mutagenic base modification. To develop a sensitive analytical method for the detection of N3mT in DNA based on capillary electrophoresis with laser-induced fluorescence detection (CE-LIF), we synthesized the N3mT-3'-phosphate as a chemical standard. The limit of detection was 1.

It is becoming more and more evident that the deregulation of chromatin modifiers such as DOT1L plays a critical role in tumorigenesis. As yet, the number of pharmaceutical agents targeting chromatin modifiers is still limited.

Schmidt's imidate strategy offers an effective method to synthesize libraries of various oligosaccharide mimetics. With the aim to perturb interactions of tumor cells with extracellular matrix proteins and host cells, molecules with 3,4-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan as core structure were synthesized and screened in biological assays for their abilities to interfere in cell adhesion and other steps of the metastatic cascade, such as tumor-induced angiogenesis.

The anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin have primarily been attributed to its inhibitory effect on NF-κB activity due to redox regulation. In this study, we show that curcumin is an immunosuppressive phytochemical that blocks T cell-activation-induced Ca(2+) mobilization with IC(50) = ∼12.
