Gene expression profiles in human dental pulp stem cells treated short-term with lipopolysaccharides before and after osteoinduction.

Objectives: Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) are essential for reparative dentinogenesis following damage or infection. DPSCs surrounding the blood vessels in the central region of the dental pulp actively proliferate after tooth injury and differentiate into new odontoblast-like cells or odontoblasts to form reparative dentin. However, the signaling pathways involved in undifferentiated and osteodifferentiated DPSCs under inflammatory conditions remain unclear.

A foreign national male in his 30s presented to our hospital after falling overboard. He appeared to have had a rope around his neck during the fall;however, no witnesses observed this. The patient was agitated in the emergency room and was walking around incessantly.

Polycomb protein Bmi1 promotes odontoblast differentiation by accelerating Wnt and BMP signaling pathways.

Bmi1 is a polycomb protein localized in stem cells and maintains their stemness. This protein is also reported to regulate the expression of various differentiation genes. In this study, to analyze the role of Bmi1 during dentinogenesis, we examined the immunohistochemical localization of Bmi1 during rat tooth development as well as after cavity preparation.

Self-Assembly of Thienopyrrole-Fused Thiadiazoles Containing an Amide Linker: Control of Supramolecular Polymerization Mechanism and Chiroptical Properties by Trialkoxy Side Chains.

Three thienopyrrole-fused thiadiazole (TPT) fluorescent dyes featuring a common amide linker and different alkoxy substituents on peripheral trialkoxybenzene moieties were synthesized, and their self-assembly behavior in solution was investigated. The obtained results revealed a substantial steric effect of the alkoxy substituents on the supramolecular polymerization mechanism, which results from a combination of π-stacking and hydrogen (H)-bonding interactions. Detailed spectroscopic measurements revealed that with increasing steric demand of the substituents, the supramolecular polymerization processes in pure methylcyclohexane (MCH) or a mixture of MCH and toluene become temperature-sensitive and enthalpically favorable, resulting in a change from the isodesmic assembly mechanism to the cooperative mechanism.
