Vitamin D and protein deficiencies are common conditions in the general population. In Orthopaedic surgery, they can result in wound complications or poor bone healing. The goal of this study was, therefore, to determine the prevalence of vitamin D and albumin deficiencies in patients scheduled for elective Orthopaedic procedures.

Carbon Nanotube-Polyurethane Composite Sheets for Flexible Thermoelectric Materials.

Integration of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) in the form of fabriclike sheets or other preformed assemblies (films, fibers, etc.) simplifies their handling and allows for composites with higher nanotube contents, which is needed to better exploit their outstanding properties and achieve multifunctional materials with improved performance. Here, we show the development of p-type SWCNT-thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) fabric materials with a wide range of SWCNT contents (from 5 to 90 wt %) by employing a one-step filtration method using a suspension of SWCNTs in a TPU solvent/nonsolvent mixture.

Multimodal learning for emergency department triage implementation: experiences from Papua New Guinea during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Triage implementation in resource-limited emergency departments (EDs) has traditionally relied on intensive in-person training. This study sought to evaluate the impact of a novel digital-based learning strategy focused on the Interagency Integrated Triage Tool, a three-tier triage instrument recommended by the World Health Organization.

Methods: A mixed methods study utilising pre-post intervention methods was conducted in two EDs in Papua New Guinea.

Design and Synthesis of Pyrrolidinyl Ferrocene-Containing Ligands and Their Application in Highly Enantioselective Rhodium-Catalyzed Olefin Hydrogenation.

Herein, we report the design and synthesis of a series of chiral pyrrolidine-substituted ferrocene-derived ligands. The proficiency of this novel structural motif was demonstrated in the Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of dehydroamino acid esters and α-aryl enamides. The products were obtained with full conversions and excellent levels of enantioselectivities of up to >99.

Emergency department triage and COVID-19: Performance of the Interagency Integrated Triage Tool during a pandemic surge in Papua New Guinea.

Objective: To determine the sensitivity of the Interagency Integrated Triage Tool to identify severe and critical illness among adult patients with COVID-19.

Methods: A retrospective observational study conducted at Port Moresby General Hospital ED during a three-month Delta surge.

Results: Among 387 eligible patients with COVID-19, 63 were diagnosed with severe or critical illness.
