The Pentagon Copying Test and the Clock Drawing Test as Prognostic Markers in Dementia with Lewy Bodies.

Aims: To determine whether the pentagon copying test (PCT) and the clock drawing test (CDT) are associated with nursing home admission or survival in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).

Methods: The PCT and/or the CDT were retrospectively collected from 103 clinically diagnosed probable DLB patients at a university medical center and general hospital. Patients with high versus low scores on these tests were compared.

Background And Objective: Urinary tract infection (UTI) represents the most common bacterial infection in infants, and its prevalence increases with the presence of high-grade vesicoureteral reflux (VUR). However, voiding cystourethrography (VCUG) is invasive, and its indication in infants <3 months is not yet defined. This study aims to investigate, in infants aged 0-3 months, if the presence of versus non- bacteria and/or normal or abnormal renal ultrasound (US) could avoid the use of VCUG.

Schistosomiasis is a tropical disease affecting over 230 million people worldwide. Although effective drug treatment is available, reinfections are common, and development of immunity is slow. Most antibodies raised during schistosome infection are directed against glycans, some of which are thought to be protective.

Comparison of palm and mixtures of refined palm and soybean oils on serum lipids and fecal fat and fatty acid excretions of adult humans.

The effects of palm (P) and mixtures of palm and soybean (PS), palmolein and soybean (POS), palmstearin and soybean (PSS) oils on serum lipids and fecal fat and fatty acid excretions of humans were studied. Each oil was the dominant fat in diets consumed by ten normolipidemic live-in individuals. Test diets were assigned by randomization.

Psyllium husk fiber supplementation to the diets rich in soybean or coconut oil: hypocholesterolemic effect in healthy humans.

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of psyllium husk fiber supplementation to the diets of soybean and coconut oil on serum lipids in normolipidemic humans. A 28-day study was divided into four 7-day experimental periods. Dietary periods were soybean oil (SO), soybean oil plus psyllium fiber (SO + PF), coconut oil (CO) and coconut oil plus psyllium fiber (CO + PF), and were arranged to a randomized cross over design.
