Article Synopsis
  • Researchers designed stable pseudorotaxane complexes (PK@CAOPP and PR@CAOPP) to improve the targeted delivery of a chemotherapeutic drug specifically to cancer cells while avoiding normal cells.
  • The positively charged components in these complexes interact with negatively charged cell components, allowing them to localize in the mitochondrial membrane of cancer cells, where they trigger cell death through mechanisms like ROS generation.
  • The study demonstrates that these supramolecular adducts effectively induce cancer cell dysfunction without harming healthy cells, with promising results validated in mouse models.

A unique fluorescent molecule (ND-S) was obtained from Eosin Y in two simple yet high yielding steps (1). ND-S has special metal ion sensing ability, such that it can selectively detect toxic Hg present in very low concentration in aqueous solutions in the presence of other competing metal ions. The host-guest complexation is ratiometric and is associated with significant increase in fluorescence during the process.

Two unique ionic covalent organic networks (iCONs) incorporated with guanidinium motifs were obtained and characterized by various techniques. Upon 8 h of treatment with iCON-HCCP (250 μg/mL), >97% killing of , , and strains was observed. Antimicrobial efficacies against bacteria and fungi were also evident from FE-SEM studies.

The main objective of the study is to estimate the prevalence and compare the levels of psychological impact, anxiety, depression, and stress experienced by the frontline health care workers (HCWs) during the lockdown and post lockdown periods at Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Hyderabad, India. All participants involved in the study were evaluated by using depression, anxiety and stress scale 21, the impact of event scale revised scale for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and a standardized questionnaire. During the lockdown period, the score for depression was observed mean scores to be more in front desk people (2.
