Effects of wearable resistance during warm-up on physical fitness measures in young female athletes.

The aim of this study was to quantify the training effects of wearing calf-loaded wearable resistance (WR) during a netball specific warm-up in female netball athletes. Twenty-nine high school female netball athletes were matched for change of direction (COD) speed and randomly allocated to either WR training or an unloaded group. Both groups performed the same warm-up two times per week for 6 weeks, with the WR group wearing 1%-1.

Adults With Head and Neck Burns Experience Worse Long-Term Outcomes and Require More Reconstructive Surgeries: A Burn Model System Study.

Background: Adults living with head and neck burn injuries experience psychosocial consequences due to scarring as well as functional disabilities. However, the impact of head and neck burns on long-term self-reported psychosocial outcomes, return to work, and need for reconstructive surgery has not been well described. This study investigates the unique longitudinal problems in psychosocial and functional recovery faced by adults with head and neck burn injuries.

Living with pain and Parkinson's developing an understanding of the impact, trajectory and pain management needs: a qualitative interview study protocol.

Introduction: Pain is reported as one of the most troubling symptoms for people with Parkinson's (PwP); however, the literature exploring their lived experience of pain and how to manage it is limited. Pain affects PwP at all stages of their condition and can fluctuate and change over time. Therefore, it is pertinent to speak to PwP to understand their experiences of pain to inform the development of tailored behavioural interventions to manage pain.

REsource Support To Optimize REcovery (RESTORE) scoping review: Evaluating aftercare resources for burn survivors.

Background: Burn survivors report limited resources as they transition to their communities after initial hospitalization. The aim of this project is to review literature that identifies resources provided to burn survivors and their supporters after discharge to their communities.

Methods: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were used to examine the following literature databases: PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, PsycInfo, and CINAHL.

Supergrowth in speckle patterns.

Supergrowth occurs when the local amplitude growth rate of a wave is greater than that predicted by the band limit. While generating supergrowth on demand requires precise source modulation, we demonstrate that supergrowth occurs naturally in a sum of random plane waves. We measure the supergrowing fractional area of transverse, monochromatic, fully developed speckle patterns.
