Article Synopsis
  • - The article investigates how student gender and supervisor gender influence the clinical placement experiences of physician assistant students in the UK, aiming to fill a gap in existing literature on this topic.
  • - Research methods included qualitative surveys from students, revealing notable disparities: male students had fewer opportunities to engage with female patients, while female students similarly faced limitations with male patients.
  • - The findings indicate the need for educational programs to consider gender dynamics in clinical placements, advocating for strategies to promote equitable experiences for all students.

Analyzing 99 autopsy bone samples and 5 archeological samples, the research categorized them into five PMI classes using conventional methods.

T cell surface CTLA4 sequesters the costimulatory ligands CD80 and CD86 on antigen-presenting cells (APCs) to prevent autoimmunity. Therapeutic immunosuppression by recombinant CTLA4-immunoglobulin (Ig) fusion proteins, including abatacept, is also attributed to CD80/CD86 blockade. Recent studies show that CTLA4-Ig binding to APC surface cis-CD80:PD-L1 complexes can release the inhibitory ligand PD-L1, but whether this contributes to T cell inhibition remains unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • - Menkes disease is a serious neurodegenerative disorder caused by problems with copper absorption, marked by symptoms like 'kinky' hair and developmental delays starting at 2-3 months old, and it follows an X-linked recessive inheritance pattern.
  • - Historically, diagnosing Menkes has been challenging due to variable symptoms, often taking months, but new ultrarapid genome sequencing technology allows for quicker DNA-based diagnoses in just hours.
  • - Recent case studies have used this sequencing tech to identify new genetic variants related to Menkes disease, paving the way for faster treatment and potentially better long-term health outcomes.
