Background: Asymptomatic and paucisymptomatic infections account for a substantial portion of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) transmissions. The value of intensified screening strategies, especially in emergency departments (EDs), in reaching asymptomatic and paucisymptomatic patients and helping to improve detection and reduce transmission has not been documented. The objective of this study was to evaluate in EDs whether an intensified SARS-CoV-2 screening strategy combining nurse-driven screening for asymptomatic/paucisymptomatic patients with routine practice (intervention) could contribute to higher detection of SARS-CoV-2 infections compared to routine practice alone, including screening for symptomatic or hospitalized patients (control).

Pseudomorphic transformations are related to chemical conversions of materials while conserving their shape and structural features. Structuring ceramic shapes this way can be used to tailor the physico-chemical properties of materials that can benefit particular applications. In the context of spent nuclear fuel storage interacting with radiolysis products, the sonochemical behavior of powdered UO was investigated in dilute aqueous solutions saturated with Ar/(20 %)O (20 °C).

Five strains of Pseudoalteromonas, isolated from oyster haemolymph, have exhibited antibacterial activity against several Gram-negative bacteria. Bioactive compounds have been identified in their cell-free supernatant and characterised as alterins, which are cyclolipopeptides comprising a heptapeptidic ring connected to a fatty acid chain. Using ultra-performance liquid chromatography-high-resolution mass spectrometry, this paper describes 37 structural analogues differing from each other by one or more amino acid residue, the length of the fatty acid chain, its hydroxylation and the presence of unsaturation.

Three bacterial strains, named h-66, h-124 and h-125, were isolated from the haemolymph of different specimens of the flat oyster collected in Concarneau bay (Finistère, France). These strains were characterized by a polyphasic approach, including (i) whole genome analyses with 16S rRNA gene sequence alignment and pangenome analysis, determination of the G+C content, average nucleotide identity (ANI), and DNA-DNA hybridization (DDH), and (ii) fatty acid methyl ester and other phenotypic analyses. Strains h-66, h-124 and h-125 were closely related to both type strains RA15 and PAMC 28425 with less than 93.

Five native Sargassaceae species from Brittany (France) living in rockpools were surveyed over time to investigate photoprotective strategies according to their tidal position. We gave evidences for the existence of a species distribution between pools along the shore, with the most dense and smallest individuals in the highest pools. Pigment contents were higher in lower pools, suggesting a photo-adaptive process by which the decreasing light irradiance toward the low shore was compensated by a high production of pigments to ensure efficient photosynthesis.
