Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder marked by the presence of brain amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques and stages of memory loss, cognitive decline, psychological and psychiatric changes, inability to perform activities of daily living, dementia, and eventually death. Recent evidence demonstrates the slowing of clinical decline with plaque-clearing, anti-Aβ monoclonal antibodies. PRX012 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets and clears known pathogenic forms of Aβ in development for subcutaneous (SC) use.

Behavioral Health Education, Awareness, and Response Development (BeHEARD).

An increased need to support behavioral health concerns such as anxiety and depression was identified in both healthcare employees and patients. To address this gap, a multistate Midwestern healthcare system developed a course to provide education and training on behavioral health for employees in clinical and nonclinical roles. Over 650 participants have attended the course.

Effective doses of scout projections in maxillofacial cone beam computed tomography.

Objectives: To assess the effective and organ/tissue equivalent radiation doses of different scout projection protocols in four CBCT units.

Methods: Optically stimulated luminescence dosimeters (OSLD) were placed in reference anatomical locations in the head and neck segments of an anthropomorphic phantom representing an average adult male. Ten repeated exposures were obtained from each of the twelve scout projections studied, acquired from four maxillofacial cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) units (Midmark EIOS, 3D Accuitomo F170, Veraviewepocs 3D R100, and Veraview X800).

The Bone, Exercise, Alendronate, and Caloric Restriction (BEACON) trial design and methods.

Background: Among older adults living with obesity, intentional weight loss (WL) improves prognosis of many comorbidities. However, concomitant decline in bone mineral density (BMD) limits overall benefit of WL by increasing osteoporotic fracture risk. Identification of intervention strategies to maximize body fat loss, while minimizing harm to the musculoskeletal system, is an important area of clinical research.

A New Paradigm for Pandemic Preparedness.

Purpose Of Review: Preparing for pandemics requires a degree of interdisciplinary work that is challenging under the current paradigm. This review summarizes the challenges faced by the field of pandemic science and proposes how to address them.

Recent Findings: The structure of current siloed systems of research organizations hinders effective interdisciplinary pandemic research.
