Contraction Heuristics for Tensor Decision Diagrams.

In this paper, we study the equivalence problem for quantum circuits: Given two quantum circuits, are they equivalent? We reduce this problem to the contraction problem of a tensor network. The order in which the contraction operations between tensors are applied has a crucial impact on efficiency, which is why many heuristics have been proposed. In this work, we use an efficient representation of tensors as a tensor decision diagram.

Validation of the Clavien-Dindo classification and Comprehensive Complication Index as measures of morbidity following total hip and knee arthroplasty.

Aims: The Clavien-Dindo (CD) classification and Comprehensive Complication Index (CCI) have been validated primarily among general surgical procedures. To date, the validity of these measures has not been assessed in patients undergoing arthroplasty.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study examined patients undergoing primary, total hip and knee arthroplasty for osteoarthritis to simulate a policy-level institutional reduction in acute hospital stay by 1 day.

The impact of elective cervical lymph node treatment on the tumour immune response in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma: time for a change in treatment strategy?

The elective ablation of cervical lymph nodes, via surgery or irradiation, is a mainstay in the treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). In this setting, the decision to treat the clinically node negative neck is based upon risk analysis of various factors, primarily derived from tumour features. However, the impact of ablation of tumour-draining lymph nodes upon the tumour-immune response and immunocompetence is largely unknown.
