[Contribution of connected prescriptions (NetSIG) for the management of molecular pathology exams].

Introduction: This study describes our experience implementing a connected prescription software (NetSIG, Terascop) for molecular pathology exams.

Material And Methods: NetSIG was set up for liquid biopsies and tissue testing. After registration and activation of regional pathology laboratories, NetSIG was implemented for external then internal prescriptions.

Primary squamous carcinoma of the submandibular gland: A case report.

The uncommon occurrence of primary squamous carcinoma of the submandibular gland makes it a challenge to diagnose and treat. Clinical as well as histopathological assessments are key elements for the diagnosis. Although no clear treatment guidelines exist, surgical excision with a neck dissection is the cornerstone of the treatment with or without adjuvant therapy.

Case report of osteomyelitis of the mandible in osteopetrosis and management considerations.

Introduction And Importance: Osteopetrosis is a poorly known and probably underdiagnosed pathology. It is caused by various genetic abnormalities resulting in osteoclast dysfunction. Functional and aesthetic consequences have a major impact on the patient's quality of life.

In vivo and ex vivo confocal microscopy for the evaluation of surgical margins of melanoma.

We report the first series of melanomas (MMs) where the surgical margins were evaluated both by ex vivo confocal microscopy (EVCM) and in vivo reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM). We evaluated the surgical margins of 42 cutaneous MMs of lentigo maligna/lentigo maligna melanoma type and 2 mucosal MMs with EVCM. Cutaneous MMs also underwent RCM mapping.

[Contribution and limits of lean management in the organization and working of a pathology department].

Introduction: In order to validate our strategy of continuous improvement and to identify new ways to increase performance, an evaluation of all the procedures was conducted in our department using the principles of lean management.

Material And Methods: Lean-6-sigma methodology (Gemba Walk, Value StreamMapping, spaghetti diagram, Kaizen workshop and priorization matrix) was used to analyze the procedures of the conventional and molecular sectors, and to identify bottlenecks, actions without added value and solutions.

Results: The audit identified bottlenecks in pre-analytical (registration), analytical (cytology, immunohistochemistry, sequencing, pathologists) and post-analytical processes (absence of secretaries, delivery of reports by mail).
