Background: Periodic quality control (QC) procedures are important in order to guarantee the image quality of radiological equipment and are also conducted using phantoms simulating human body.

Objective: To perform (QC) measurements in intraoral imaging devices, a new and simple phantom was manufactured. Besides, to simplify QC procedures, computerized LabView-based software has been devised, enabling determination of image quantitative parameters in real time or during post processing.

Periodontal disease is associated with endothelial dysfunction of the brachial artery and hemodynamic alterations of the common carotid artery. Periodontal therapy improves endothelial function. It is not known if it is able also to improve the hemodynamics of the carotid artery.

Background: Thanks to the recent scientific improvements, the insertion of immediately loaded post-extraction implants has become a routine, rather than elective, surgical treatment, which vaunts a success rate close to 100%.

Aim: The purpose of this study is to analyze the actual status regarding this field and to critically review the current available literature.

Technological and reconstructive surgical procedures improvments are limiting demolitive interventions on the lower limb for common pathologies and traumatology. From 1999 to 2002, 32 men and 14 women, from 18 to 54 years-old, were admitted at the Operative Unit of Plastic Surgery of ASL RMH.
