In the fields of psychology, psychiatry, and psychotherapy an understanding of manipulation can be found that often looks one-sidedly at the psychopathologies of a manipulator. Manipulation is often depicted as a deficient, egoistic form of communication that deceives and pressures the manipulated. However, in this paper, we aim to explore a more nuanced understanding of manipulation as a form of influence that can be both toxic and benevolent.

The BTB is built on a multidisciplinary network established to provide the scientific community with standardized biospecimens and genomic data, thereby improving knowledge of the biology, treatment and outcome of childhood tumors. As of 2022, over 1100 fresh-frozen tumor samples are available for researchers.

In this proof-of-concept, the possibility of vertical bone augmentation was explored by suspending hemispherically shaped titanium-reinforced porous calcium phosphate (CaP) implants (n = 12) over the frontal bone in a sheep model (n = 6). The animals were euthanized after week 13 and the specimens were subject to micro-computed tomography (μCT) and comprehensive histological analysis.

Although substantial consideration is given to the design and validation of different CaPs, relatively little is known about their material-cell interaction. Specifically, the intracellular content of different CaP phases remains to be assessed, even though CaP-filled macrophages have been observed in several studies.
