A new scoring system to predict fatal accidents in General Aviation and to facilitate emergency control centre response.

Numerous accidents occur with General Aviation aircraft every year. To date, pre-emptive prediction of survival or death is impossible. The current study aims to identify significant factors elementary to predict survival after General Aviation (GA) aircraft accidents.

Survival After Ditching in Motorized Aircraft, 1989-2022.

Although an unintended aircraft landing on water (referred to as ditching) is a rare event, the potential for occupant injury/fatality increases immediately following the event due to adverse conditions. However, to date, few studies have addressed the subject. Herein, ditching events and post-ditching survival were investigated.

Fixed-Wing Motorized Aircraft Accidents: Analysis of Injury Severity and Concomitant Factors (2000-2019).

There is a paucity of research on general aviation accidents in Germany. The authorities investigate only a fraction of all national accidents. The current study analyzes existing accident reports and aims to identify injury severity in regard to concomitant risk factors.

Orbital Many-Body Dynamics of Bosons in the Second Bloch Band of an Optical Lattice.

We explore Josephson-like dynamics of a Bose-Einstein condensate of rubidium atoms in the second Bloch band of an optical square lattice providing a double well structure with two inequivalent, degenerate energy minima. This oscillation is a direct signature of the orbital changing collisions predicted to arise in this system in addition to the conventional on-site collisions. The observed oscillation frequency scales with the relative strength of these collisional interactions, which can be readily tuned via a distortion of the unit cell.

Molecular epidemiology of clinical Acinetobacter baumannii and Acinetobacter genomic species 13TU isolates using a multilocus sequencing typing scheme.

To further expand the limited multilocus sequence typing (MLST) database for Acinetobacter baumannii, 53 clinical isolates from various outbreaks in Europe and the USA, collected between 1991 and 2004, plus the A. baumannii reference strain ATCC 19606(T) and 20 clinical Acinetobacter genomic species 13TU isolates from the same period, were analyzed using a new MLST scheme based on fragments of the gltA, gyrB, gdhB, recA, cpn60, gpi and rpoD genes. Data were compared with typing results generated using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD)-PCR.
