Purpose: Many approaches have been used to model chordae tendineae geometries in finite element simulations of atrioventricular heart valves. Unfortunately, current "functional" chordae tendineae geometries lack fidelity (e.g.

However, adverse hemodynamic effects as consequence of an altered blood flow within the aorta and the aortic root remain a topic of concern. In this work, we investigated the influence of the outflow graft orientation on the hemodynamic profile and flow parameters within the thoracic aorta.

Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study of 194 kidney transplant recipients (KTR) who exhibited no response to SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations (i.e.
Background: Recent evidence highlights the pivotal role of natural killer (NK) cells in allograft rejection.
Methods: We explored associations of missing self and gene polymorphisms determining the phenotype and/or functionality of NK cells with microvascular inflammation (MVI) in a single-center cohort of 507 consecutive kidney transplant recipients. Patients were genotyped for killer cell Ig-like receptors and polymorphisms in 4 selected genes (FCGR3AV/F158 [rs396991], KLRC2wt/del, KLRK1HNK/LNK [rs1049174], and rs9916629-C/T).
Purpose: Deformable medial modeling is an inverse skeletonization approach to representing anatomy in medical images, which can be used for statistical shape analysis and assessment of patient-specific anatomical features such as locally varying thickness. It involves deforming a pre-defined synthetic skeleton, or template, to anatomical structures of the same class. The lack of software for creating such skeletons has been a limitation to more widespread use of deformable medial modeling.
