"If people are hesitant at all, you just want a really big front door": a rapid qualitative interview study on the Luton COVID-19 vaccination outreach clinics.

Background: There is a lack of evidence on the usefulness, practicality, and acceptance of vaccination outreach clinics in the community especially during pandemics. In this qualitative study, we explored the experiences, motivations and perceptions of service users, health professionals, strategic staff, volunteers, and community workers involved in the COVID-19 vaccination outreach clinics in Luton.

Methods: Semi structured face to face, telephone, online interviews, and focus groups were conducted with 31 participants including health professionals, strategic staff, volunteers, community workers and service users.

Low-dose hydrocortisone replacement improves wellbeing and pain tolerance in chronic pain patients with opioid-induced hypocortisolemic responses. A pilot randomized, placebo-controlled trial.

Unlabelled: Long-term opioid therapy has been associated with low cortisol levels due to central suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. The implications of hypocortisolism on wellbeing have not been established. Our aim was to determine whether intervention with physiologic glucocorticoid replacement therapy improves wellbeing and analgesic responses in patients with chronic non-cancer pain on long-term opioid therapy with mild cortisol deficiency.

Fabrication of a custom ocular prosthesis.

Defects of the eye may follow removal of a part of or the entire orbit. This results in the patient becoming visually, esthetically and psychologically handicapped. Restoring the defect with a silicone- or acrylic-based prosthesis not only restores esthetics but also gives back the lost confidence to the patient.

Prosthetic eye rehabilitation and management of completely blind patients.

Facial prostheses aim to restore the appearance, contours, and esthetics of the face while consequently enhancing patients' self-esteem and reintegration into social life. Restoring unilateral missing ocular and orbital tissues is a challenging task that requires great skill from the clinician (anaplastologist) to accurately mimic the opposing natural tissues. Bilateral defects present additional technical and clinical challenges for clinicians and patients alike.

Maxillofacial prosthetic rehabilitation in the UK: a survey of maxillofacial prosthetists' and technologists' attitudes and opinions.

Maxillofacial prostheses are constructed by maxillofacial prosthetists and technologists (MPTs), as an alternative treatment when maxillofacial defects cannot be surgically fulfilled. A questionnaire was conducted surveying 220 MPTs working in all UK maxillofacial units about their opinions, attitudes, and experience regarding several aspects related to maxillofacial silicone prostheses. Numbers and percentages of maxillofacial prostheses, their retention method, serviceability, reduced serviceability causes, and digital technologies (DT) used in constructing prostheses were analysed.
