Post-stroke depression and anxiety, collectively known as post-stroke adverse mental outcome (PSAMO) are common sequelae of stroke. About 30% of stroke survivors develop depression and about 20% develop anxiety. Stroke survivors with PSAMO have poorer health outcomes with higher mortality and greater functional disability.

Introduction: Emergency department (ED) staff are at a high risk for compassion fatigue (CF) due to a work environment that combines high patient acuity, violence, and other workplace stressors. This multifaceted syndrome has wide-ranging impacts which, if left untreated, can lead to adverse mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. However, the majority of studies examining CF look solely at clinicians; as a result, there is little information on the impact of CF across other roles involved in supporting patient care.

Chemical castration, that is the reduction of circulating testosterone concentrations to castrate levels by administration of a GnRH-agonist implant, is a popular alternative to surgical castration in male dogs. Detailed information concerning the pituitary-testicular axis following administration of a GnRH-agonist implant is still scarce.
