Goals of Care Discussion Characteristics and Disparities in Children with Medical Complexity.

Objectives: Children with medical complexity (CMC) have disproportionately high healthcare utilization and mortality. Goals of care (GOC) discussions improve goal-concordance and subjective outcomes for CMC and their caregivers; however, little is known about the frequency or characteristics of GOC discussions in CMC. We sought to define GOC discussion frequency and attributes in CMC and identify patient characteristics that may influence GOC discussion occurrence.

Objective: Otolaryngology residents often encounter work-related stress and challenges during training. Sociodemographic factors influence experiences during residency; however, the impact of race and gender on otolaryngology trainee well-being during residency remains understudied.

Improving Health Literacy of Elective Procedures in Pediatric Otolaryngology.

Objective: To identify if the addition of supplementary material, such as video or written resources, to the consent process, can improve a patient's or guardian's health literacy in pediatric otolaryngology.

Study Design: Prospective randomized crossover design.

Setting: Tertiary Academic Center.

Nasal airway obstruction in patients with cleft lip nasal deformity: A systematic review.

Background: Cleft lip nasal deformity (CLND)-associated nasal airway obstruction (CL-NAO) may be inadequately characterized, with its functional implications subsequently underappreciated and neglected. The purpose of this systematic review is to (1) summarize the available assessment results in CL-NAO, (2) evaluate the reliability of current assessment tools, and (3) identify ongoing gaps and inconsistencies for future study.

Methods: A systematic search of the MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Scopus databases was performed for articles studying CL-NAO.
