Background: A theory-practice gap in nursing education often occurs, and the staff from the nursing education institution and the associated healthcare services should find ways to improve their collaboration to reduce the gap during the training of nursing students.

- A literature review of 32 articles published between 2010 and 2022 was conducted to synthesize these interventions and map them out according to clinical practice areas.
- While the management techniques discussed are well-researched and evidence-based, the review found a lack of clear connections in the integration of these interventions from the initial drowning scene to the children's ongoing care in the PICU, and noted the absence of parental involvement in this process.
We report the case of a 69-year-old female who presented with a chronic nasal skin rash, new onset focal seizure, and a cerebral ring-enhancing lesion after a year of improper nasal irrigation. Despite aggressive and novel anti-amoebic treatment, she died as a result of a Balamuthia mandrillaris brain infection.
