Background: Hemodialysis vascular access predisposes patients to exit-site infections (ESIs) and bloodstream infections (BSIs), resulting in significant morbidity and mortality. The objective was to characterize hemodialysis catheter-related (CR) ESIs and BSIs while considering potential factors associated with infection.

Background: Tranexamic acid (TXA) is a pharmacological agent used in reducing blood loss during orthopaedic surgeries, including total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Despite its proven efficacy and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines recommending combined topical and intravenous administration, compliance in clinical practice often lags.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate and improve adherence to NICE guidelines for TXA use during TKA through a quality improvement initiative.

The formation of a stable alkyl At-C bond occurs during the shipment of At on a 3-octanone-impregnated column and the reactivity of At stripped from columns has been studied. The At could not be recovered from the 3-octanone organic phase using nitric acid or sodium hydroxide, even up to 10 and 15.7 M, respectively.

Multidisciplinary collaboration is key to strengthening the evidence base for multifaceted illness prevention interventions. We bring together health economics and behavioral science to explore the well-being benefits and social cost-benefit of volunteer gardening at an accredited botanic garden, Wales, UK. A health economics-informed social return on investment (SROI) evaluation was combined with the assessment of volunteers' basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence, and relatedness), connection to nature, and their interrelatedness in this innovative nature-based intervention study.
