Interprofessional management of concussion in sport.

Due to the high incidence of sports concussion, various health and medical providers are likely to encounter athletes who have sustained such an injury. Management of concussion necessitates coordinated care by the members of the sports medicine team due to its pathophysiology and complexity of management during recovery. All members of the sports medicine team must possess contemporary knowledge of concussion management as well as strong interprofessional communication skills to ensure effective care and safe return to sports participation.

[Anthology of the first clinical studies with hypothalamic hormones: a story of successful international cooperation].

Our early pioneering clinical trials in Mexico with natural and synthetic thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) and luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LH-RH) also known as gonadotropin releasing hormone (Gn-RH), were reviewed. Highly purified TRH of porcine origin was shown to stimulate Thyrotropin (TSH) release in hypothyroid cretins. Subsequent tests with synthetic TRH also demonstrated significant increases in plasma TSH in normal men and women as well as in patients with primary hypothyroidism and other endocrine disorders.

Ability of an anti-luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone vaccine to inhibit gonadotropins in postmenopausal women.

Objective: To determine the effects of immunization with an anti-LH-releasing hormone (LH-RH) vaccine in postmenopausal women.

Design: Pilot clinical study.

Setting: Normal human volunteers in a medical research-training environment.

A preliminary pharmacological trial of the monthly injectable contraceptive cycloprovera.

A comparative pharmacological pilot study of the monthly injectable contraceptive CycloProvera was carried out in 11 women in four centres. There were no significant differences in the results between the centres except that the injection-bleeding interval appeared to be shorter in Swedish women than in those in Havana and Mexico. Medroxyprogesterone acetate was detectable in blood for 28 to 62 days after injection of CycloProvera and although follicular activity returned in less than 28 days after injection in many of the women, corpus luteum function was suppressed for at least seven weeks in all women.
