Fitness-to-drive recommendations in post-stroke patients: a retrospective study.

Background: Stroke sequelae can have an impact on daily life activities such as driving. French legislation stipulates that post-stroke patients should undergo a multi-professional fitness-to-drive assessment before being allowed to drive again. This retrospective study aims to explore the determinants of multi-professional fitness-to-drive recommendations.

Twelve years after: The french national network on rare head and neck tumours (REFCOR).

Background: Rare cancers constitute less than 10% of head and neck cancers and lack sufficient evidence for standardized care. The French Rare Head and Neck Cancer Expert Network (REFCOR) as established a national database to collect data on these rare cancers. This study aims to describe patient and tumour characteristics in this database.

How blue lining the recurrent laryngeal nerve can aid in re-operative surgery?

The recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN), is one of the main structures at risk of injury causing vocal cord paralysis during head and neck surgery, especially during thyroid or parathyroid surgery, central neck dissection and upper oesophageal sphincter surgery. We describe the systematic use of marking of the RLN using non-resorbable blue polypropylene suture after its localisation, just inside its penetration below the cricopharyngeal muscle, to help identify the nerve for cases of re-operative surgery in this area. This specific marking technique could facilitate subsequent preservation of the nerve and reduce nerve injury risk in cases of planned or unexpected future operations, as well as emergency surgery due to postoperative complications.

Tracheostomies after SARS-CoV-2 intubation, performed by academic otorhinolaryngologists in the Paris area of France: Preliminary results.

Objective: To analyse tracheostomies after intubation for SARS-Cov-2 infection performed by otorhinolaryngologists in 7 university hospitals in the Paris area of France during the month March 24 to April 23, 2020.

Material And Methods: A multicentre retrospective observational study included 59 consecutive patients. The main goals were to evaluate the number, characteristics and practical conditions of tracheostomies, and the COVID-19 status of the otorhinolaryngologists.

HPV RNA CISH score identifies two prognostic groups in a p16 positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma population.

HPV-related and HPV-unrelated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas are two distinct entities according to the Union for International Cancer Control, with a better prognosis conferred to HPV-related oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas. However, variable clinical outcomes are observed among patients with p16 positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma, which is a surrogate marker of HPV infection. We aimed to investigate the prognostic value of RNA CISH against E6 and E7 transcripts (HPV RNA CISH) to predict such variability.
