Using SARS-CoV-2 Sequencing Data to Identify Reinfection Cases in the Global Emerging Infections Surveillance Program, United States.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines SARS-CoV-2 reinfection as a positive COVID-19 test result >90 days after the collection date for the initial positive test or if sequencing confirms a different lineage is causing the reinfection. Reinfection dynamics have been examined by using PCR or antigen surveillance data. We identified patients in the US Military Health System who had >1 positive SARS-CoV-2 test during March 2020-July 2022 by using whole-genome sequencing data to identify reinfection cases, then compared those data with patient demographics, symptoms, and vaccination status.

Gaining Respect and Mitigating Risk: A Qualitative Exploration of How New Attendings Navigate Interpersonal Relationships with Recent Resident Peers.

Background: Physicians moving through training experience changes in personal and professional relationships, which can increase stress, uncertainty, and burnout. Social connection can be an important resource but can introduce complexity and conflict. This study aimed to explore how early-career attendings navigate and manage changing organizational and friendship roles with recent resident peers (near-peers) through this critical transition.

Clinical and Radiographic Results After Treatment of Traumatic Syndesmotic Instability Using a Novel Screw-Suture Syndesmotic Fixation Device.

Prospective assessment of canine thyroid cancer-part I: nodal metastatic rate and impact of nodal immunohistochemistry in 70 dogs.

Objective: To determine the rate of nodal metastasis in dogs with thyroid cancer and evaluate whether immunohistochemistry (IHC) identifies additional metastases beyond evaluation with H&E.

Animals: 70 prospectively enrolled client-owned dogs with thyroid cancer managed with thyroidectomy.

Methods: Dogs underwent thyroidectomy with concurrent elective bilateral medial retropharyngeal (MRP) ± deep cervical lymphadenectomy.
