Rupture sinus of Valsalva in a patient with dextrocardia. Case report.

Ruptured sinus of Valsalva (RSOV) is a rare disease with a wide range of clinical manifestations, from asymptomatic murmur to cardiogenic shock and death. We present the case of a young woman known with dextrocardia and pulmonary agenesia; she was diagnosed with RSOV and during follow-up, with endocarditis. Her evolution was good despite the association of severe heart conditions and the refusal of surgical intervention.

Acute carotid stent thrombosis: review of the literature and long-term follow-up.

Background: Carotid artery stenting (CAS) is a reasonable alternative to carotid endarterectomy, especially in patients at high risk for surgery. Carotid stent thrombosis can cause thrombembolic events, but fortunately, it is a very rare complication. We present two cases of carotid stent thrombosis and their long-term follow-up.

The acute effect of ACEI and ARB's upon endothelin in heart failure patients.

Purpose Of The Study: to compare the acute effect of ACEI and ARB's upon the plasmatic endothelin level in heart failure patients.

Methods: There were studied 30 patients with congestive heart failure, III-IV functional NYHA class, that were not under ACEI or ARB's treatment. In all the patients the endothelinl-21 plasmatic level was determined.

Extrafamilial sexual abuse: treatment for child victims and their families.

Objectives: To decrease the emotional distress of child victims of extrafamilial sexual abuse (ESA) and their families. To provide crisis intervention, individual and group treatment in response to an expressed need in the community. To pilot the use of group treatment for child victims of ESA under age 10.

Family therapy of extrafamilial sexual abuse.

A significant portion of children referred for psychiatric treatment have been sexually abused. One of the most difficult symptom manifestations to treat in young children is the management of anger. In this case, a 4-year-old boy was sexually abused by persons outside the family.
