Usefulness of transthoracic echocardiography in demonstrating coronary blood flow after coronary artery bypass grafting.

In this pilot study, we used transthoracic echocardiography to measure coronary sinus blood flow in 15 patients before and after coronary artery bypass grafting. Coronary sinus blood flow before and after revascularization was 274 +/- 95 and 451 +/- 102 ml/min, respectively (p <0.001).

Sternal osteomyelitis.

Two patients were successfully treated for sternal tuberculous osteomyelitis with quandruple anti-tuberculous chemotherapy and surgical exploration. The diagnosis was confirmed in one. In the other the clinical presentation was characteristic of a tuberculous aetiology.

Habitual dislocation of the patella.

The clinical presentation of 26 knees in 25 children with habitual dislocation of the patella caused by contracture of the quadriceps muscle was studied. They had all received intramuscular injections to the thigh during infancy. The predominant symptom was sudden giving way of the knee during activity.
