Medication management issues perceived by pharmacists and disability caregivers while supporting people with disability.

Background: Australia has a notable gap in guidance for pharmacists, caregivers and disability service providers in: (i) supporting people with disabilities (PWD) within the medication management cycle, (ii) understanding their obligations for providing high quality care, and (iii) preventing medication-related harm.

Objective: The objective of this study was to identify medication management issues for PWD from the perspective of disability caregivers and pharmacists when supporting PWD with their medication.

Methods: A qualitative study design using semi-structured interviews of pharmacists and disability caregivers was undertaken across six different states or territories in Australia.

A vision to advance gender equality within pharmacy leadership: Next steps to take the profession forward.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 to 'achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls' aims to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and girls and ensure their full and effective participation in all spheres of life. In alignment with this, several key international initiatives are making progress towards gender equality in the pharmacy profession. The pharmacy profession must support women and accelerate the progress of women in leadership positions in pharmacy.

A Comparison of Real and Virtual Laboratories for Pharmacy Teaching.

New approaches to teaching and learning in the tertiary setting offer students flexibility for learning and, in a pandemic, suggests ways to provide learning when face-to-face delivery cannot be conducted. Courses that contain a hands-on laboratory component can be resource intensive in terms of equipment, staff, and facilities, thus more difficult to deliver when hands-on laboratory work is precluded. This study developed two virtual laboratories that could be completed online and, using a crossover design, evaluated student learning outcomes from virtual and real laboratory activities for 57 students.

Radiography and ultrasonography in the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal enlargements in five guinea pigs.

Five guinea pigs with palpable abdominal masses were examined by radiography and ultrasonography, and laparotomy was performed. Splenic haematoma, splenic and uterine haemangioma, uterine fibroma and ovarian teratoma were found on histological examination after excision of the relevant organs. Both of the imaging methods allowed localisation of the affected organs, but the inner structure of the masses could only be imaged by ultrasonography.

A preliminary study of the ultrasonographic determination of renal size in the guinea pig (Cavia porcellus).

No standard kidney measurements studies are available for guinea pigs and other pet rodents. Because the size of the kidney often is altered due to diffuse parenchymal renal disease, standardized normal values may help in the ultrasonographic detection of renal enlargement or diminution in vivo. We obtained in vivo ultrasonographic renal measurements from 31 clinically healthy guinea pigs.
