B cells orchestrate tolerance to the neuromyelitis optica autoantigen AQP4.

Neuromyelitis optica is a paradigmatic autoimmune disease of the central nervous system, in which the water-channel protein AQP4 is the target antigen. The immunopathology in neuromyelitis optica is largely driven by autoantibodies to AQP4. However, the T cell response that is required for the generation of these anti-AQP4 antibodies is not well understood.

Accuracy of polyp characterization by artificial intelligence and endoscopists: a prospective, non-randomized study in a tertiary endoscopy center.

Artificial intelligence (AI) in gastrointestinal endoscopy is developing very fast. Computer-aided detection of polyps and computer-aided diagnosis (CADx) for polyp characterization are available now. This study was performed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of a new commercially available CADx system in clinical practice.

[Trampolining-induced gross hematuria : Unmasking the nutcracker syndrome].

The case of a 12-year-old boy with sports-induced recurrent macrohematuria and left-sided flank pain is reported. After extensive laboratory and imaging diagnostics, the diagnosis of nutcracker syndrome is made based on the characteristic clinical manifestation. Under a conservative approach and abstention from the triggering sport, a clinical as well as image-morphologically confirmed maturation occurred.
