A robust reduction in near-surface wind speed after volcanic eruptions: Implications for wind energy generation.

Near-surface wind speed (NSWS), a determinant of wind energy, is influenced by both natural and anthropogenic factors. However, the specific impacts of volcanic eruptions on NSWS, remain unexplored. Our simulations spanning the last millennium reveal a consistent 2-year global NSWS reduction following 10 major historical eruptions.

Development and validation of a glycolysis-associated gene signature for predicting the prognosis, immune landscape, and drug sensitivity in bladder cancer.

Background: Bladder cancer (BCa) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide, and its prognostication and treatment remains challenging. The fast growth of various cancer cells requires reprogramming of its energy metabolism using aerobic glycolysis as a major energy source. However, the prognostic and therapeutic value of glycolysis-related genes in BCa remains to be determined.

Conglomerated Imiquimod and Metronidazole Incorporated Biodegradable Nanofibrous Mats for Potential Therapy of Cervical Cancer.

Background: In clinical practice, imiquimod is used to treat Human Papillomavirus (HPV)-related lesions, such as condyloma and Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia (CIN). Metronidazole is the most commonly prescribed antibiotic for bacterial vaginosis. The study developed biodegradable imiquimod- and metronidazole-loaded nanofibrous mats and assessed their effectiveness for the topical treatment of cervical cancer, a type of HPV-related lesion.

Changes in flavor profile of sauce-flavor baijiu: Perceptual interactions between 1-propanol and aroma compounds.

1-Propanol is an important aroma compound in sauce-flavor Baijiu. However, the mechanism by which it affects the aroma of sauce-flavor Baijiu has not been fully investigated. In this study, an instrumental and perceptual analysis was employed to assess the impact of 1-propanol on the flavor and volatile compounds in sauce-flavor Baijiu.

Hierarchical Neurocognitive Model of Externalizing and Internalizing Comorbidity.

Mounting evidence suggests hierarchical psychopathology factors underlying psychiatric comorbidity. However, the exact neurobiological characterizations of these multilevel factors remain elusive. In this study, leveraging the brain-behavior predictive framework with a 10-year longitudinal imaging-genetic cohort (IMAGEN, ages 14, 19 and 23,  = 1,750), we constructed two neural factors underlying externalizing and internalizing symptoms, which were reproducible across six clinical and population-based datasets (ABCD, STRATIFY/ ESTRA, ABIDE II, ADHD-200 and XiNan, from age 10 to age 36,  = 3,765).
