In response to the increasing emergence of zoonotic pathogens, flexible, multisectoral surveillance systems capable of generating alerts thanks to rapid, nonspecific detection, are crucial before pathogens reach human populations. Syndromic surveillance has proven to be a breakthrough for near real-time disease surveillance in the public health sector. It relies on existing nonspecific data, usually collected for other purposes.

Recently, a new syndrome called TCF20-associated neurodevelopmental disorders (TAND) has been described, with specific clinical features. While TCF20's role in the neurogenesis of mouse embryos has been reported, little is known about its molecular function in neurons.

We analyzed two independent diabetic neuropathy cohorts: PROPGER consisting of 72 painful and 67 painless patients recruited at the German Diabetes Center in Düsseldorf (DE), and PROPENG comprising 27 painful and 65 painless diabetic neuropathy patients recruited at the University of Manchester (UK). Genome-wide methylation data was generated using Illumina Infinium Methylation EPIC v1.

The use of high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) in patients undergoing procedural sedation and analgesia (PSA) is dramatically increasing. Enzymatic debridement in critical burn patients is a painful treatment that requires an optimal burn pain control protocol as well as a deep sedation for the entire duration of the procedure.

In this study, we investigated the effects of three different learning modalities in histopathology teaching: optical microscopy, in-class virtual microscopy (VM), and online VM lectures. We examined relational aspects, didactic effectiveness, and satisfaction in these learning settings, both during class time and in private study, outside the dedicated spaces and hours of the university.
