Bladder cancer poses significant clinical challenges due to its high metastatic potential and poor prognosis, especially when it progresses to muscle-invasive stages. Here, we show that the mA reader YTHDC1 is downregulated in muscle-invasive bladder cancer and is negatively correlated with the expression of epithelial‒mesenchymal transition genes. The functional inhibition or depletion of YTHDC1 increased the migration and invasion of urothelial cells.

Precise blood glucose control continues to be a critical challenge in the treatment and management of type 1 diabetes in order to mitigate both acute and chronic complications. This study investigates the development of a supramolecular peptide amphiphile (PA) material functionalized with phenylboronic acid (PBA) for glucose-responsive glucagon delivery. The PA-PBA system self-assembles into nanofibrillar hydrogels in the presence of physiological glucose levels, resulting in stable hydrogels capable of releasing glucagon under hypoglycemic conditions.

Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) represents a distinct form of heart disease characterized by structural and functional alterations in the myocardium, occurring in the absence of other cardiac conditions. This review delves into the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying myocardial fibrosis in DCM, highlighting the pivotal role of fibroblast transdifferentiation into myofibroblasts. We examine the interplay between hyperglycemia, immune cell activation, and neurohumoral signaling pathways, with a particular focus on the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) signaling cascade and its contributions to collagen deposition and cardiac dysfunction.

Electrospray mass spectrometry has become indispensable in many disciplines including the classic "omics" techniques such as proteomics or lipidomics, as well as other life science applications in molecular, cellular, and structural biology. However, a limiting factor that often arises for the detection of biomolecular analytes is their poor ionization efficiency in the ion source. Here, we present an add-on device for the electrospray source, termed MS (MS Spectral Impurity Eliminator & Value Enhancer), which is placed between the electrospray needle and the cone of the mass spectrometer.
