Coupling biology with electronics is emerging as a transformative approach in developing advanced medical treatments, with examples ranging from implants for treating neurological disorders to biosensors for real-time monitoring of physiological parameters. The electrodes used for these purposes often face challenges such as signal degradation due to biofouling and limited biocompatibility, which can lead to inaccurate readings and tissue damage over time. Conducting organic polymers are a promising alternative because of their mechanical, chemical, and physical properties, which better match the ones of biological systems.

Purpose: Forensic psychiatric inpatient care in Sweden is characterized by strict regulations and adherence to court-mandated rules, with a median care time of 7 years. Comorbity has significant clinical implications, impacting health and well-being, violent behaviour and criminal recidivism, and prolonging inpatient stays. This study investigated the individual experiences and perspectives of Swedish patients in forensic psychiatric care with substance use (SU) disorders, focusing on past, present and future orientations.

Nerve growth factor (NGF)-R100E is a mutated form of human recombinant NGF that reduces the binding of NGF to its p75NTR receptor while retaining its affinity toward the TrkA receptor. Here, we used human wild type NGF and NGF-R100E knock-in mice to investigate the effects of this NGF mutation on inflammation-induced pain-related behaviors and bone loss. The hNGF-R100E mutation did not alter the nerve fiber density in the sciatic nerve, ankle joint synovium, and skin of naïve mice.

Neuroimmune interactions are essential for the development of neuropathic pain, yet the contributions of distinct immune cell populations have not been fully unraveled. Here, we demonstrate the critical role of B cells in promoting mechanical hypersensitivity (allodynia) after peripheral nerve injury in male and female mice. Depletion of B cells with a single injection of anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody at the time of injury prevented the development of allodynia.

Background: Limited availability and side effects of opioids have led to an increased use of non-opioid analgesia in animal disease models. However, by affecting the immune-inflammatory reactions, analgesia may disrupt the resolution of the host inflammation and modulate the survival in septic animals. This study used a clinically relevant sepsis mouse model of peritoneal contamination and infection (PCI) to investigate the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties of two non-opioid analgesics.
