The Trial Enrollment Diversity Dashboard for Acute Leukemia Clinical Research: Intervention Development and Cohort Analysis.

Purpose: Participation in acute leukemia clinical trials is inequitable across multiple sociodemographic categories. Tools that provide researchers with performance feedback on the representativeness of the patients they enroll are limited. We aimed to develop an electronic health record (EHR)-based dashboard to provide such feedback and to describe any enrollment inequities uncovered.

Cancer Trial Eligibility and Therapy Modifications for Individuals With Duffy Null-Associated Neutrophil Count.

Importance: Absolute neutrophil counts (ANCs) are used to determine cancer clinical trial (CCT) eligibility and systemic anticancer therapy (SACT) dose modifications. Duffy null-associated ANC (DANC) is a nonpathologic phenotype associated with lower ANC and most frequently seen in individuals with African and Middle Eastern ancestry. It is unclear whether CCTs exclude or SACT regimens modify doses for individuals with ANC within the DANC reference range.

Considering collaborative incident management: A study of the COVID-19 response and initial recovery in a rural West Virginia community.

Hierarchical command-style structures are commonplace in the management of disasters, though researchers have begun to recommend the exploration of networked approaches to incident management. Furthermore, few studies are explicitly looking at the rural context of disaster management. This study seeks to contribute to both topics by examining the motivations for emergent collaboration in the direction of the response and initial recovery to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic in a rural West Virginia community.

Temporal trends of health disparity in the utilization of curative-intent treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma: are we making progress?

Background: Liver-directed treatments - ablative therapy (AT), surgical resection (SR), liver transplantation (LT), and transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) - improve the overall survival of patients with early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Although racial and socioeconomic disparities affect access to liver-directed therapies, the temporal trends for the curative-intent treatment of HCC remain to be elucidated.

Methods: This study performed chi-square, logistic regression, and temporal trends analyses on data from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample from 2011 to 2019.

Evolution of community outreach and engagement at National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Centers, an evolving journey.

Cancer mortality rates have declined during the last 28 years, but that process is not equitably shared. Disparities in cancer outcomes by race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation and gender identity, and geographic location persist across the cancer care continuum. Consequently, community outreach and engagement (COE) efforts within National Cancer Institute-Designated Cancer Center (NCI-DCC) catchment areas have intensified during the last 10 years as has the emphasis on COE and catchment areas in NCI's Cancer Center Support Grant applications.
