Climate Change Influences via Species Distribution Shifts and Century-Scale Warming in an End-To-End California Current Ecosystem Model.

Climate change can impact marine ecosystems through many biological and ecological processes. Ecosystem models are one tool that can be used to simulate how the complex impacts of climate change may manifest in a warming world. In this study, we used an end-to-end Atlantis ecosystem model to compare and contrast the effects of climate-driven species redistribution and projected temperature from three separate climate models on species of key commercial importance in the California Current Ecosystem.

Evaluation of tick salivary and midgut extracellular vesicles as anti-tick vaccines in White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus).

Current tick control measures are focused on the use of synthetic acaricides and personal protective measures. However, the emergence of acaricide resistance and the maintenance of tick populations in wildlife has precluded the efficient management of ticks. Thus, host-targeted, non-chemical control measures are needed to reliably reduce ticks parasitizing sylvatic reservoirs.

Experiences of resettled Iraqi and Syrian refugee young people and families with a mental health triage and assessment service.

The Refugee Access Service (RAS) is a triage, assessment and referral service established in Melbourne, Australia to ensure timely and appropriate mental health support for young refugees. This qualitative study sought to explore the experiences of young people aged 12-25 years, and their families, newly arrived from Iraq and Syria, who had contact with the RAS, for the purposes of further programme development. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with participants, either individually or in family groups.

An optical brain-machine interface reveals a causal role of posterior parietal cortex in goal-directed navigation.

Cortical circuits contain diverse sensory, motor, and cognitive signals, and form densely recurrent networks. This creates challenges for identifying causal relationships between neural populations and behavior. We developed a calcium imaging-based brain-machine interface (BMI) to study the role of posterior parietal cortex (PPC) in controlling navigation in virtual reality.
